BetPTC.com has all the action of a huge Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend unofficially marks the end of summer, and what better way to enjoy the final days of the heat than by playing the ponies at the top tracks around the nation. BetPTC.com will have you covered as we offer the top action from the top tracks, including great stakes racing from Monmouth Park, Arlington Park, Del Mar, Parx Racing (formerly Philadelphia Park), Calder Race Course, Thistledown, River Downs, the list goes on and on.

Monmouth Park features final weekend of the Summer meet portion of their season

Monmouth Park will continue racing for another couple of months, but the “Elite Summer Meet” portion will come to an end this weekend. The massive purses, large fields, and big payouts have been a joy for players all summer long and they will be closing out this portion of their season in style, with great cards on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and a Monday Labory Day card which will feature the Gilded Time Stakes and the Sorority Stakes. On Saturday Monmouth will offer up a pair of stakes races on a spectacular 13 race program that gets underway at 12:50pm EST. The 10th race will be run on the grass at one mile and one eighth and it’s the $100,000 Twin Lights Stakes for 3 year old fillies. With Hurricane Earl expected to hit the East Coast on Friday, players will definitely want to keep an eye on the forecast all weekend long for the Jersey Shore.

Also on Saturday is the Grade 3 Sapling Stakes for the two year olds, and a nice field of 9 has been entered. The Sapling has often been the showcase for the who’s who of juveniles at the Monmouth Park meeting. Vengeful Wildcat could definitely garner much of the attention coming off an impressive score in the Tyro Stakes earlier this season at Monmouth Park. Carlos Marquez Jr. will be on board of Vengeful Wildcat who has drawn post 4. His main competition could be from Sanford Stakes winner Maybesomaybenot. Maybesomaybenot posted a 9/1 upset win in that race at Saratoga and has chosen this spot for his return. Maybesomaybenot has drawn the extreme outside post in the field of nine, and jockey Elvis Trujillo will be able to see what the riders inside of him do before making his tactical decisions. Garrett Gomez will be aboard Nacho Saint, who although still a maiden after a handful of starts, has run second in each career effort and could be a contender in here.

The Sapling Stakes goes off as the 11th race on an action packed 13 race card at Monmouth park on Saturday September 4th and first post is at 12:50pm EST. Here is the field for the Sapling Stakes:

1. Madman Diaries, Jeffrey Sanchez

2. Nacho Saint, Garrett Gomez

3. Another Silver Oak, Fernando Jara

4. Vengeful Wildcat, Carlos Marquez Jr.

5. Printing Press, CC Lopez

6. Js Lucky Train, Jeremy Rose

7. Brother in Arms, Joe Bravo

8. Chipshot, Shawn Bridgmohan

9. Maybesomaybenot, Elvis Trujillo

Arlington Park entering the home stretch of their season

Arlington Park in Chicago enters the final couple of weeks on their summer season, but they will still be offering some great action including the Grade 3 $150,000 Washington Park Handicap on Saturday September 4th. Gran Estreno is back looking to repeat in this race after winning the Grade 3 event last year. Gran Estreno will carry 118 pounds as the co high weight for the race under jockey Michael Baze. Gran Estreno certainly has shown an affinity for Arlington Park over the past few years, as he’s racked up five wins from seven career starts at the suburban Chicago oval. Gran Estreno has drawn post two for the Washington Park Handicap.

Giant Oak is also back looking to regain his form from last season when he was one of the top turfers at Arlington Park. He is yet to taste victory as a four year old, but he has been knocking on the door of some tough customers. Giant Oak comes off a fifth place finish in the Arlington Handicap, but was beaten just a length and a quarter that day. Junior Alvarado will be on board of Giant Oak who will also carry 118 pounds and will break from post six.

The Washington Park Handicap goes off as Race 8 on the Saturday September 4th program at Arlington Park and post time is 5:37 for the Grade 3 event.

River Downs closes the meet down with the Bassinet and Cradle Stakes

River Downs builds up all season for their huge closing weekend, which always takes place over the Labor Day weekend holiday. On Saturday September 4th they will feature the $50,000 Coca Cola Bassinet Stakes for two year old fillies at six furlongs. Trainer John Hancock will send in a pair for the Bassinet including 5/2 morning line favorite Internet Café. Internet Café broke the maiden at Churchill Downs in May and followed that win up ten days later with a nose victory in a non winners of two allowance. Kristina Kenney will be aboard the two year old filly for the first time in her career as Internet Café has drawn post 4 in the field of eight. Hancocks other runner was the winner of the Bassinet prep at River Downs last month Bach Hamilton. Bach Hamilton has been training at Ellis Park and firing bullets in the morning prepping for the Bassinet Stakes. The Bassinet will be the 11th race on the Saturday September 4th Ohio program.

The $100,000 Cradle Stakes is always the season feature at River Downs and Ruslter Hustler looks to be the clear standout of those nominated for the event. Entries will be drawn on Friday, but Rustler Hustler is the only stakes winner nominated, coming off a spectactular win in the $100,000 Continental Mile at Monmouth Park. Rustler Hustler is trained by Tim Hamm, who for years has been coming down from his Thistledown base to win stakes events at River Downs.
